A man who was childless for the last 55 years has become father at the age of 72. Though he regrets that his first wife died childless, but the second wife brought happiness in his family by giving him the successor.
The former Sarpanch of Bhujargarh village of Jaisalmer district, Hukum Singh Jodha, was married when at 16 with one Chandresh Kanwar. The couple remained childless. They even met the quacks and doctors in the village. Almost 14 years ago he married 28-year-old Nandu Kanwar for the second time.
Talking to TOI Jodha said, "My first wife died childless almost 10 years ago. But God has been kind to bless my second wife with a boy. Now, I don't mind if I die since I have a successor for the Jodha family."
Asked if child was the only reason for his second marriage, he said, "Yes, I wanted a child and now I am a father."
Jodha's parents, sisters and brothers are not alive but people from neighbouring villages are coming to congratulate him. He is enjoying the status of being a celebrity' as youngsters are asking him for the tips on copulation.
"Many married men asked me things varying from my diet to my life style and if I did anything to increase my fertility," said an elated Jodha.
However, this case has started a new argument that whether a 72-year-old can father a child.
"Usually it becomes difficult to become a father after one crosses 60 but one cannot rule out such things if the sperms are alive," said PMO of Jawahar Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, Jodha is planning a grand party where he would invited people of nearby villages.
